Obituary for Sylvia Martinez (Dutchover) Sylvia Dutchover Martinez died Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Lubbock at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 23 days. She was born April 19, 1959 in Marfa, Texas to Wilfred and Hope (Granado) Dutchover. She married Gilbert Martinez in Morton, Texas on June 1, 1985.

Sylvia was the County Judge Assistant for Cochran County. She was a big advocate for “healthy county” at the courthouse, and always made sure to have a daily coffee break with family. Sylvia enjoyed shopping with her daughter and taking family vacations.

She treasured her time spent with Gilbert on the farm. Sylvia was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Morton. She is preceded in death by her father, Wilfred Dutchover.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Gilbert; her daughter, Lorraine Martinez McWhirter and her husband, Daniel W. of Morton, Texas; her mother, Hope Dutchover of Morton, Texas; her sister, Cynthia Casarez of Morton, Texas; one niece, April Ramirez; and one nephew, Roy Ramirez.
