Tammy Lynn Gregg, 59, of West Vandergrift, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Born February 9, 1959 in Dubois, Pennsylvania to Donna Jean (Tapper) Siverling and Ruben Siverling. Tammy graduated from Jefferson County VoTech in 1977, and was very active in cheerleading, and the Sailorets Marching Band.

She moved to California in 1979 where she met her husband BJ in Mile High Idyllwild, California in the fall of 1981 before moving to Santa Cruz County, California on July… Read More » 4, 1982. Tammy married her husband BJ in the fall of 1985. She started her career of 30 years for the United States Postal Service, retiring in March 1, 2018.

Tammy started as a rural carrier associate in Felton, California, and worked her way up to Post Master of the Salina Post Office in Pennsylvania. She worked at two post offices in California and nine in Pennsylvania, retiring as Post Master in Sarver, Pennsylvania. Tammy moved back to Pennsylvania in 1991 to be closer to her family.

She was blessed with the birth of her son George H.Gregg on August 6, 2000. Tammy always wanted to give back to her community, serving as president of the North Apollo V.F.D. Ladies Auxiliary for ten years, Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 551, and an active member of the Order Of The Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron from 2011-2012, she was also a member of the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church. Tammy’s love of life took her on many adventures.

She enjoyed rock climbing, camping, hiking, touring National Parks, boat camping with her family, water skiing, and walks in the woods with her German Short Haired Pointers. Tammy had an affection of the High Country of the Sierra Nevada Mountains that she had an opportunity to share with her son, with a trip to climb Mount Whitney in 2013, and again in 2018. She was preceded in death by her mother Donna Jean (Tapper) Siverling.

In addition to her father, Major Ruben Siverling, (US Army Retired), Tammy is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Burnett J. “B.J.” Gregg; son, George H. Gregg of West Vandergrift; brother, Paul (Linda) Siverling of Reynoldsville, PA; sister, Tracy Siverling of Reynoldsville; and her nephew, Matthew Siverling of College Station, TX. We love you Kiddo, we always have, and always will. See you in Heaven.

Friends will be received on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave. , Apollo. An Order Of The Eastern Star Service will be held Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services take place on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Neal Galley officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tammy’s memory to the Order of the Eastern Star Service Dogs for Children Fund, c/o Oma Beck, 2126 Dime Road, Vandergrift, PA 15690. Please make checks out to OES Chapter 125 Service Dogs for Children Fund.
