Obituary for Ted Eugene Thompson Ted Eugene Thompson, age 87, of Matthews, NC died on November 15, 2018 at Willowbrook Court of Plantation Estates in Matthews, NC. Ted was the son of Edward Eugene and Myrtle Slagle Thompson. He was born January 26, 1931 in Charlotte, NC.

His family moved to Fort Mill, SC when he was in the 10th grade and he graduated from Fort Mill High School and soon after graduation, enlisted in the Army. While in service he married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Bridges Thompson. Ted spent most of his career with Piedmont Natural Gas Company in Charlotte, NC, completing 33 years before retiring.

His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and Christian Partners Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Joanne, son David (Kimberly), granddaughters: Heather Tench (Craig), Tricia White (B.K.), grandsons: Cayse, Gryce and Hayes; sister June Hammond, nephew Steven Godfrey.

Ted was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church-Higdon Education Fund, 4921 Randolph Rd. Charlotte, NC or Plantation Estates Samaritan Fund, 733 Plantation Estates Dr., Matthews, NC or the charity of your choice.
