Theo “Ted” Gordon Rasmussen May 08, 1946 – May 09, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Theo (Ted) Rasmussen passed away May 9, 2019 in American Fork, Utah. Ted was born May 8, 1946 in Vernal, Utah, to Earl Gordon Rasmussen and Barbara Ellen Jenkins. Ted’s parents divorced when he was only a toddler and he was raised by his paternal grandmother until the age of 5.

He loved his grandmother and living in Vernal. His father remarried and they moved to Livermore, California. Ted married Susan Peterson and they later moved to Utah.

Susan had a son, Tom, from a previous marriage. They had three daughters – Marianne, April, and Lara. They were later divorced and Ted married Colleen Wiley on June 16, 1989.

Ted served his country during the Vietnam War as an air traffic controller in the Army. He worked many years and retired from the Utah State Prison. He also had various other jobs – saw mill, mechanic, and truck driver.

Ted enjoyed hunting, backpacking, hiking, camping, and shooting. Ted and Colleen had many wonderful times in the outdoors. One fun experience was backpacking with horses in a tent during the elk hunt in 10 inches of snow.

He was proficient in machine tool technology and working with metal, even making his own action for a black powder rifle. He loved smelting and casting his own bullets and reloading. He could take almost any gun apart and put it back together and also made several wood stocks and handles for his guns.

He was also the best knife sharpener in the world. Ted is survived by his wife Colleen; stepson – Tom Cowie (Delta, UT); daughters – Marianne (Stewart) Hoyt, Corey, PA; April (Mark) Colburn, Jamestown, NY; Lara (Micheal) Kravet, Fruitland, UT; 22 grandchildren; sisters Joan Pearce and Earlene Sadleir and brother Paul Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings – Donna Anchor and David Rasmussen.

Funeral services will be May 16, 2019 at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main,Lehi, Utah, at 1:00pm with a viewing prior to the service starting at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the Lehi City Cemetery with military rights.
