Thomas E. Gentry Sr., 65, Duncansville, died Wednesday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John L. “Jack” and K. Orlea (Heeter) Gentry. He married Marcella T. Drass in 1973.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years; two daughters: Kelly Rossman of Curwensville and Karey DeRose of Duncansville; a son, Thomas E. Jr. and wife, Helen, in Texas; nine grandchildren; three sisters: Darlene Leaper of Hollidaysburg, Leann Neil of Claysburg and Karen Gentry of Altoona; and a brother, John E. Gentry of Duncansville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda. Thomas graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School in 1972.

He worked for Tel-Power and Norfolk Southern, where he retired after 40 years as a carman. He enjoyed golfing, playing softball and being outdoors. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb.

26, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Dry Run Cemetery.
