It is with great sorrow that the family of Thomas H. Newell Jr. announces his passing on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the age of 53 at home in West Springfield from heart failure. Tom was born November 9, 1965 the son of Thomas Newell Sr. and Joan Newell of West Springfield. Tom was a pest control technician for Rest in Peace Pest Control for over 40 years.

He took much pride in his work in serving the community he cared for. He was fondly known as Tutter to his many loving family members and friends. To his immediately family, he was lovingly known as Diggy Daddy.

Tom was a faithful member of Harvest Assembly of God where he played the drums on the worship team for many years as well as serving in the congregation as church deacon. Later, became a member of Bethany Assembly of God. He was a humble man, generous and kind, known for his quick wit and friendly demeanor.

Tom leaves behind his parents Thomas H Newell Sr. and Joan Newell. He is survived by his loving wife Debra Newell, his four children Joshua Newell, Hannah Coombs and her husband Adam Coombs, Hope Newell, Auxana Newell, his sister Debra Weaver of FL, his brother-in-law David Schwab and his wife Caroline of ME. , along with several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held MON 10 AM at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST. , West Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be held SUN from 2 to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western Mass, 181 Park Ave.
