Thomas J. Zimmermann, 48, of Mountainside, passed away on July 8, 2018. Born in Jersey City, he lived in North Arlington before moving to Mountainside in 1999. He was a member of Brothers in Christ at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church.

He was predeceased by his mother Rita Gehring Zimmermann and his father-in-law, Edward Rittberg. Tom is survived by his wife, Suzanne Rittberg Zimmermann, his three daughters, Katie, Jill and Allie, his father, Hans “John” Zimmermann, his mother-in-law, Louise Rittberg as well as several nieces, nephews and godchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 and Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave.

, Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Mountainside at 11:15AM. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Tom was a federal employee who began his career with the Social Security Administration in 1991 and finished with the Veterans Administration in 2015. He graduated from St. Peter’s Prep, St. Peter’s College with a degree in mathematics. He received a master’s in Statistics from Stevens Institute of Technology.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to offset medical expenses would be greatly appreciated.
