Kevin Michael McCloskey (Cranford, NJ) born January 12, 1958 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Kevin will be truly missed by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Arline McCloskey, the loving father of his son Brendan (married to Stephanie), daughter Erin Fullmer (married to Dustin) and daughter Meghan McCloskey (fiancé Steve Milwicz).

Kevin is survived by his mother Florence McCloskey, sister Patricia Landau (husband Adam) and Michael McCloskey (wife Paula). He was preceded in death by his father Thomas McCloskey and brothers Kenneth and Thomas. Kevin has 7 loving nieces and nephews.

Kevin graduated with a BS in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude and a Member of the Economic National Honor Society from Kean University and received an MBA from Rutgers State University. He had a successful career in various financial institutions including Barton Savings & Loan as Branch Manager, Carteret Savings Bank as Accounting Supervisor, Lakeview Savings Bank as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Lending Officer, Synergy Bank as Sr. Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Credit Officer, Affinity Federal Credit Union as Vice President of Lending and was currently working at Northfield Bank as a Senior Vice President & Chief Credit Officer. Over his life, Kevin was involved in several professional organizations, including president of the New York/New Jersey Chapter of the Financial Managers’ Society (elected the youngest president in its fifty year history), Executive Committee Member of the New York/New Jersey Chapter of the Financial Managers’ Society – Trustee of the Institute of Financial Eduction as well as an instructor, and a member of the New Jersey Savings League Educational Task Force.

He was also involved in various charitable organizations: Trustee of Union County Economic Development, Trustee of the Trinitas Hospital Foundation as well as the Board Chairman, President and Treasurer of the Eastern Union County YMCA and also a Trustee of Paterson Habitat for Humanity, awarded the Golden Hammer Award. He was the recipient of a Paterson City Council Resolution for his service, Banker of the Year for Strengthen Our Sisterhood, a battered women’s shelter, and also awarded Distinguished Citizen for the Muti-purpose Hispanic Center in Paterson. He was honored by the Cancer Hope Network.

He proudly received the Martin Invitational Robert’s Cup in 2014 and 2015. In recent years he served as a trustee on the Board of Trustees for Center for Hope Hospice. The Friendly Sons of St Patrick presented the Joseph Higgins Service Award to Kevin in 2015.

The qualities listed on the plaque describe Kevin; sincerity, personal integrity, humility, courtesy, wisdom and charity. Kevin enjoyed friends and family at home and at the beach, his golden doodle Maisie, golfing, Guinness, travel and an appreciation for wine and art. His smile and sense of humor will be missed.

Diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2012 he faced every treatment challenge with a warrior attitude, traveling to his doctor at Memorial Sloan Hospital, NYC every 28 days. He was appreciative of the care received from the staff in NYC and at the Sloan treatment center in Middletown, NJ. As his disease progressed his faith grew stronger.

The McCloskey Family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. Visitation will be held at Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home at 582 Springfield Avenue in Westfield on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 4-8 pm. A Mass and celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 9:30am St. Michael’s Church, 40 Alden St. Cranford, NJ.
