Obituary for Thomas Ned Buck Thomas Ned Buck, age 81, of Grand Haven, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018, at Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence. He was born February 28, 1937, in Muskegon to Alvin James and Lora Elaine (Reiley) Buck, and he married Maxine Joyce Fricke on October 4, 1957, in Muskegon. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2013.
Tom was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church, and former member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Muskegon. He enjoyed going out to eat, and going for rides, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Tom served his country in the Army, he worked for 23 years as the “Bread Man” for Schafer’s Bakery (Aunt Millies), and previously worked for Ruiter’s Market and Plumb’s.
He is lovingly remembered by three daughters: Peggy Ann (Larry) Norkus of Grand Haven, Patty Lynn (Tom) Zillins of Lansing, and Paula (Randy) Swainston of Spring Lake; his son, Jeremy Thomas Buck of Grand Haven; seven grandchildren: Robert (Lindsay) Overkamp, Ryan (Nicole) Overkamp, Adam (Jenny) Zillins, Annie Marie (Todd) Kruger, Corey Swainston, Erin Fitts, and Nathan Buck; twelve great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Kathleen (Ray) Romero, Linda Lou Powles, and Karen (Art) Beall. The funeral service for Tom will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Lakeshore Baptist Church with Pastor Nate Birkholz officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Honor Guard.
Friends may meet the family from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Lakeshore Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
