A life well lived, Thomas R. Smith, a lifelong resident of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at home. Tom was the son of Thomas William Smith and Martha Ida Wyniger. Born in Bridgeport, CT on March 13, 1930.

Tom served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Gainard DD-706. Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years Gloria Kochis Smith; his sons Tom and Tim Smith; daughters Laura Nacovitch Cheryl (Nick) Hersh, Patti (Jack) Reese, grandchildren Jason and Ryan (Melissa) Nacovitch, Nick (Megan) Hersh, Jesse Hersh, Emily (James) Sciortino, Brad (Keri) Reese, Jennie Reese, Ian (Sandra) Reese; great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Callie Everlith and Allie Hersh. “Weirdo” as he was affectionately called by his kids was a retired carpenter, having built countless projects.

He was predeceased by his infant son Barry Scott Smith; brothers Seymour Linsley, Herbert (Barbara) Linsley and Bill (Agnes) Smith and son-in-law Fred Nacovitch. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice Care and nurses, Danielle, Jessica and Monique and aide Nadia for all their loving care. Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd.

, Trumbull. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Friday from 3-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd.
