Obituary for Tommie Jewel Taylor Tommie Jewel (Kellum) Taylor, 90 of Muskogee, OK was born April 14, 1928 in Ringold, OK to Thomas and Virdie (Edwards) Kellum and passed away peacefully Friday, June 15, 2018 while visiting her grandson in Oklahoma City, OK. Tommie enjoyed living her early life in Antlers, OK. She met and later married the love of her life, W.B. Taylor in Antlers, OK; he preceded her in death in December 1965.

She later moved to Muskogee, OK where she worked for Muskogee Bridge Co. and the Social Security Administration. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. She enjoyed serving at the church food pantry and attending Sunday School there.

Tommie loved gardening and sewing. She was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. Most of all she loved her family and brightened any room when she walked in.

As said by her ten years old great great granddaughter, “She was an Angel on earth”. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W.B. Taylor; brothers, Ray and Jack Kellum; sisters, Pauline Hamill and Jessie Foster. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Dixie Short and Ron Lovely of Tahlequah; grandson, Mark Collins and his wife Tammy of Oklahoma City; great granddaughter, Lisa Cotter of Forney, Texas; great grandsons, Kevin Collins and his wife Cortney of Fort Worth, Texas and Brad Collins of Tahlequah; great great granddaughter, Alyssa Cotter of Forney, Texas; great great grandson, Chris Cotter of Forney, Texas; great great granddaughter, Ryleigh Collins of Fort Worth, Texas; step great grandson Tyler Courtwright and wife Jamie, step great granddaughters Chancy Duncan, Robyn Penland, Carrie Gray and husband Cody, step great great grandchildren, Chandler, Abbey, Paiton, Bentley, Dylan, Brodie, Blaine, Ryan and Bella.

A memorial service celebrating Tommie’s life will be held 11AM Thursday, June 21, 2018 in the First Baptist Church Chapel, Muskogee, OK with Reverend Phil Pack officiating. The family of Tommie Jewel Taylor has entrusted her cremation and services to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson.
