Anthony Eugene “Tony” Rice, 51, of Swannanoa, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville. Tony was born in Asheville, North Carolina on March 2, 1967 to Shirley Jean Lawrence and Harry Lewis Rice, Jr He attended North Buncombe High School and was formerly employed by Crawford Roofing.

He attended Faith Independent Church in Barnardsville. Tony was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was happiest in the woods.

Most of all, he loved his family, who will always hold his memory in their hearts. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his life partner, Brenda Stanley; his sister, Teresa Rice; his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Aletha Lawrence; and his paternal grandparents, Harry and Thelma Rice.

Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancé of eight years, Billie Jean Capps and her son, Jacob of Candler; his mother, Jean Cordray of Weaverville; his father Harry Lewis Rice Jr. of Gaston, SC; his daughter, Mandy Rice of Mars Hill; a brother, Wesley Cordray and wife Tammy of St. Charles, IL; and a granddaughter, Skylar Rice of Mars Hill.
