Velda Fern Beckham, 86, died on June 22nd, 2018 at her home in Toledo, Oregon. Her memorial service will be held at the Four Square Church, in Toledo, at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 2nd, 2018. Fern was born February 2, 1932 in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Her parents were Corbon Pelham and Maudie Honeycutt. She moved, along with her 9 brothers and 1 sister to Rainier, Oregon when she was 3 years old. She married John “Jay” W Beckham in 1949.

They resided in Rainier until 1957, when they moved to Toledo so Jay could help start up the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill. They raised 3 sons and 2 daughters. Fern worked for a time at West Coast Laundry in Newport, Oregon.

Her last job was driving a school bus for the Lincoln County School District. Upon retirement Fern and Jay traveled to Indonesia for 2 years, to help start a paper mill, after which they remained in Toledo. They were both Master Gardeners and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Fern had her card playing groups and joined them 2 or 3 times a week. Jay passed Feb. 2014.

She married Ray Wilder in July of 2014. Ray passed 18 months later. Fern is survived by her five children: Ronnie Beckham, John Beckham, Pamela Beckham, Michael Beckham, and Susan Anderson and two of her brothers: Howard Pelham and Carl Pelham.

Fern’s extended family included 13 grand children, and 25 great grand children.
