Obituary for Vera Parr Vera L. Parr, age 95, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018. She was born to Linnie Gay and Clara Hughes on December 10, 1922. Vera was a member of the Roosevelt Senior Center; she served on the Mother’s board of The Van Buren M.B. Church and was on the women’s auxiliary of Brother’s Keeper Homeless Shelter for Men.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Noah Parr, her children Vernita Merton and Kenneth Parr and two of her siblings Armine Gay and Lenox Gay. She leaves to cherish her legacy of memories to her surviving children, Natalie (Sam) Stewart, Rosalind (Fred) Neal, Stephanie Parr and Denise (Leandre) Bennett, son in law Joseph K. Merton and daughter in law Debra Parr, brother Johnnie Gay and sister in law Blanche Williams, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
