OBITUARY Vernell E. Snow November 16, 1924 – October 5, 2018 Vernell Evans Snow, 93, of Florence, passed from this life Friday, October 5, 2018, while surrounded by her family at home. She was born November 16, 1924, in Smith County, Mississippi, the oldest of seven children born to the late Pearlie Evans and Bessie Scott Evans. Vernell was a devoted wife and mother, and delighted in caring for her family.

During her husband’s Air Force career they lived in many places, settling in Rankin County in 1960. Her warm and welcoming nature was magnetic, and her home became a favorite gathering place for her children and grandchildren’s friends. Often you would find Vernell’s kitchen full of kids, sumptuously enjoying a home cooked meal.

Always desiring to be active and productive, some of Vernell’s favorite times were spent working side by side with her husband in their yard or vegetable garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty years, Robert C. Snow, son, J.D. Snow, and daughter, Shirley Elizabeth Snow. Survivors include daughter, Glenda Haddad and husband Fred; son, James H. Snow; daughter-in-law, Connie Snow; grandchildren, Mark Snow, Laurie Moore and husband Stacy, Christopher Snow and wife Mary Ellen, Michael Okies and wife Hanna, Kelli Okies, Robin Snow, Cindy Snow, and Selena Snow; and a considerable number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will benefit from her legacy of love and wisdom.

Private services will be held for Vernell. Memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice, whose loving care is so appreciated by her family, at 106 Riverview Dr, Flowood, MS 39232. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kindred Hospice nurse, Caroline Milne, for her compassionate care.
