Vernon’s Obituary Vernon George Erbes, age 82, of Reed City, passed away peacefully at his home on February 13, 2019. He was born on August 24, 1936, in Reed City, Michigan. Vernon was a 1954 graduate of Reed City High School.

He was heavily active in sports throughout his high school career and carried on that passion by helping coach his children’s sports teams and officiating for Reed City High School. In addition to his love for sports, his favorite pastime was spending time as a “hobby farmer” raising his Hereford cattle. Vernon was a long time employee of Michigan-Wisconsin ANR Pipeline until his retirement in 1995.

He remained an active member of Reed City Church of the Nazarene throughout his life. Above all, Vernon cherished his family, friends and his faith. Vernon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Laverne Erbes.

He is also survived by brothers, Lamont (Nancy), Garol (Tina), sister, Garlein Dadles and several nieces and nephews. His children, Mike (Cindy) & their children, Garrett (Autumn), great grandchildren Grady and Bryndle; Gavin (Amber), great granddaughter Brazlee; Ciara (Zack) Swears, great granddaughter Maylee Swears. Daughter, Luann (Todd) Lumsden and their sons, Jacob and Mitchell.

Daughter, Diane (Bob) Maynard and their daughters, Melissa, Katelyn and Lauren. Daughter-in-law, Lisa and children, Alison, Grant and Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orie and Oneida Erbes; son, Scott Erbes; granddaughter Grace Elizabeth Erbes daughter of Scott and Lisa; brother, Garth Erbes and brother-in-law, Gene Dadles.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15th, from 4-7pm at Reed City Church of the Nazarene. Family will also greet friends on Saturday, February 16th, from 10am until services begin at 11am at Reed City Church of the Nazarene. Memorial contributions may be made in Vernon’s name to Reed City Church of the Nazarene and to Hospice of Michigan.
