Vicki Lynn Schabo, age 69, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2019 at her home, following a battle with cancer. Vicki was born in Appleton, on July 31, 1949, to the late George and Evelyn (DeGroat) Meyer. She graduated with class of 67 at Appleton West High School.

On June 28, 1969, she was united in marriage to Richard Schabo at First United Methodist Church in Appleton. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Vicki was a caregiver to many, including relatives, neighbors, and 15 foster babies.

She enjoyed taking vacations which always included her family, crocheting, birds and animals, and spending time at their up-north home. Vicki was a lifetime member at First United Methodist Church. She will be missed by her husband Richard, of Appleton; daughter Lisa Schabo, Appleton; son Timothy Schabo, of Madison; twin grandchildren Jeremiah and Harmony; a sister, Debra (Lynn) Knutson, Shiocton; 2 brothers: John (Linda) Meyer, Menasha and Rick (Karen) Meyer, Kimberly; 2 sisters in-law: Helen Gothe, Menasha and Betty Urbanek, Hortonville; She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law Mary and Suzie, 3 brothers-in-law: Bob, Donnie, and Bud; and her uncle Ed DeGroat. A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, February 16, at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, with Rev. David Farina officiating.

Friends and relatives may visit at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and the staff at ThedaCare Hospital in Appleton and New London for the kind and compassionate care shown to Vicki.
