Vincent C. Benjamin was born in Mobile, Alabama, raised in Sacramento and lived the last 23 years of his life in Merced. He graduated from Hiram Johnson High School and attended U.C. Davis. Vincent was a quiet man but had a powerful impact on his community.

Vincent was involved with Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) School for over 20 years and until the day of his passing still worked at OLM. He committed himself to the OLM community and loved his OLM family. Vincent was also involved in coaching and refereeing soccer and basketball for OLM, the city of Merced and local and surrounding middle and high schools.

Vincent lived with Sickle Cell Anemia and fought hard to overcome the affects of his disease but God had other plans and now he will no longer be in pain which he lived with everyday of his life. Vincent is survived by his wife Christina, his daughters Courtney and Camisha, his sisters Angela and Stephanie Stone, his mother Mrytle A. Benjamin and his little man, his shadow, his grandson whom he loved like no other Zayden Ray Benjamin. Vincent is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and in-laws.

He is preceded in death by his father William M. Benjamin. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 5-8pm with a Rosary starting at 7pm at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Church in Merced with burial to follow at Winton District Cemetery in Winton.

A reception will be held after the services at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall.
