Violet Rose Burkett, 75, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Violet was born on May 11, 1942 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of William and Ressie Robinson Martin. She worked as a CNA at various different places in Springfield.

She was an avid Chicago Cub’s fan, enjoyed reading, crocheting, and word search books. She was preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; and grandson, Jeremy P. Dean. She is survived by son, William “Bill” Martin of LaSalle; three daughters, Tammy Watters of Springfield; Vickie Ishmael of Springfield and Peggy (Mark) Korzenicki of Joliet; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny (Barb) Tucker of Chester; sister, Litha (Jim) Thorson of Marion, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Church of the Little Flower with Rev. Msgr. Carl Kemme officiating.
