Violet E. Hughes, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Monday, October 22, 2018. She was 92. Daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (LaRocca) Catania, she was born on April 14, 1926 in Newburgh.

Violet was predeceased by her husband, of 53 years Ronald “Dutch” Hughes in 1999 and her grandson, Ryan P. Serviss. Violet is survived by her beloved family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Senior Group of the church prior to their closing, past member of the Community Garden Club of Marborough, the Powelton Club and St. Luke’s Auxiliary.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 am, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, Rt 52, (Orange Lake) Town of Newburgh. Private Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to be Purple Heart Foundation: www.
