Virgil L. Shirey CONTIENTAL – Virgil L. Shirey, 90, of Continental, died 11:10 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at The Meadows of Leipsic. He was born March 5, 1928 in Cloverdale, to the late Nathan and Edith Shirey. He married Betty J. Shirey and she died in 1982.

Virgil is survived by a son, James Shirey of Continental. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ernie. Virgil retired from GM Powertrain in Defiance and was a lifelong farmer.

He was US Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing and farming. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Rev.

Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Cascade Cemetery, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice. Condolences may be expressed at www.
