Virginia’s Obituary Virginia (Ginna) Ann Sokoloski, born February 13, 1932, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital. Born to Herman and Ione (Tunison) Pahnke in Wyocena, WI, Ginna grew up in Winona, MN. In 1952, she married Charles Sokoloski and they moved to Michigan where the pair started a family.

The two lived on Clear Lake for a large part of their lives together, and enjoyed caring for children and several grandchildren while spending time on the water. A true-blue Minnesotan at heart, Ginna loved watching the Vikings play football and the Twins play baseball, and reminiscing about her childhood time in Winona. One of her greatest joys, however, was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Michael (Bonnie) Sokoloski; her daughter Kathy Welborn; ten grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Ginna was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2014,her son Larry in 2018, great-granddaughter Eleanor, sisters Mary Jane and Lois, and her brother David. A visitation will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.

Following the service, the family will host a visitation luncheon at the Nisbett-Fairman Community Room. Memorial contributions in Ginna’s name may be made for the American Heart Association.
