Virginia E. Babine, 89, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Dexter Healthcare in Dexter. She was born on February 21, 1929 to Percy and Nellie (Hutchins) Burgess in Biddeford and educated in local schools. She worked for Kennebunk Laundry and then Howard Johnson’s as a cook.

She then went on to raise her five children. She was a member of the American Legion, Ladies Auxillary in Lyman. She was an avid knitter, she knitted afghans, booties, and homecoming outfits for her grandkids.

She loved working in her flower garden and liked to watch wrestling. She is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Burgess; and her sister, Phyllis Truscott. Virginia is survived by: 5 children: Gary Burgess of Newport, ME John Babine and his wife Jeanette of Plymouth, ME Brenda Burgess and her husband Greg of Londonderry, NH Phyllis Fiora of Rockville, CT Virginia Babine of Biddeford 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren Visiting Hours will 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.
