Virginia Lee Breshers passed away peacefully on January 17, 2019 after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Virginia was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on September 21, 1937 to Wiley and Georgia McDowell. After the passing of her mother Virginia’s stepmother Blanche McDowell helped raise her.

She attended Fort Gibson Schools where she embraced her nickname “LeeMac” and was crowned Ms. Lincoln. She loved her classmates and proudly graduated with the class of 1955. In the Summer of 1956, Virginia married her long time crush and friend Carey Breshers, and the two moved out west to Tacoma, Washington.

They eventually joined some of their siblings in Inglewood, California and started their own family. While living in California she committed her life to serve as a Jehovah Witness. Eventually Virginia and her family moved back to Oklahoma and settled down in OKC where they remained.

After returning to the heartland, Virginia became a Geriatric Personal Caregiver and did so proudly. She continued to witness with her Brothers and Sisters at the Spring Lake Kingdom Hall, where she served faithfully. Other than her relationship with Jehovah, family was the most important thing in her life.

Over the years she continued to devote herself to raising her family, and delightfully embraced her new role as a loving Grandmother/Meme, and eventually a Great Grandmother/Gigi. Virginia was such a sweet, mild mannered and soft-spoken woman. Her voice and contagious laugh had the ability to light up an entire room.

She was honestly one in a million. There wasn’t anyone that she would encounter, that wasn’t affected by her calming and giving spirit. To know Virginia was to love her, and she was truly cherished by her friends and family, whom she enjoyed spending time and creating memories with.

Virginia loved reading her bible, witnessing, spending time with her Kingdom Hall friends, gardening, cooking, playing the piano, singing, jazzercise, listening to music, watching birds, looking through pictures, playing kings in a corner, and spending time with her family. Virginia is proceeded in death by her parents Wiley McDowell, Georgia McDowell, and Blanche McDowell. Her Brother Clarence McDowell, Sister Beatrice Lawson, Sons Robert and Micheal Breshers, and Daughter Karen Breshers Sims.

She leaves to cherish her memory her Husband of 62 years Carey Breshers Sr, Sisters- Emma McDowell of Long Beach California, and Theresa McDowell of Corona California. Son-Carey Breshers Jr. of South Carolina. Daughters Trudy Breshers, Christel Breshers, Darby Breshers Sloan (Johnell) of Oklahoma City.

11 Grandchildren- Jenni Breshers Woods (Rashaun), Patrick Sims (Rochelle), Jermi Edwards, Justin Sims, Brandon Breshers, Ashley Sims, Brittany Breshers Ogunbekun (Ade), Desmorian Newman, Candice Breshers Henry, Courtney Sloan, and Kendra Newman. 26 Great Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
