Obituary for Wallace D. Jones Wallace Duane Jones, 88 of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Sunday June 24, 2018 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 3, 1930 in Burden, KS, the son of James Melvin “Jim” Jones and Opal Pearl (Treadway) Jones. On October 19, 1950, he married Melba (Marquand) Jones in Medicine Lodge, KS.

She survives. Wallace was a diesel mechanic for Ritchie Corporation, Wichita, KS. He was a 1948 graduate of Medicine Lodge High School and attended Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS.

Wallace was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Medicine Lodge VFW Post #7625 and the Medicine Lodge American Lost Post #69. Surviving in additon to his wife, Melba Jones of Medicine Lodge, KS are two daughters, Connie Jones-Matias and husband Leo of Ottawa, KS and Becky Jones-Ruhl and husband Kirk of Lawrence, KS; five grandchildren, Coree (Ernie) Harris, Loree (Brian) Love, Rob (Sasha) Emery, Bethany Ruhl, and Nathan Ruhl; five great-grandchildren, Taylor Harris, Brooke Harris, Wyatt Love, Rhett Love, and Polina Komogortseva; three sisters, Carolyn Leigan of Great Bend, KS, Joyce Bell of Medicine Lodge, KS, and Joann Motter of Kansas City, KS; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Opal Jones, one sister, Virginia Jones and one brother, Marvin Jones.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS with Kirk Ruhl and Bethany Ruhl officiating. Military honors will be given by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barber County Veterans Memorial Wall or the Barber County Rural Fire Department in care of Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.
