Walter’s Obituary Walter C. Hackett Sr., age 87 of Masury, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in O’Briens Nursing Home, Masury, Ohio. Born March 14, 1931 in Hubbard, Ohio he was the son of the late Clyde and Frances Baker Hackett. He married the former Genevieve Thomas on May 19, 1951 and she survives in Masury, Ohio.

Walter was a graduate of Hubbard High School. He worked for Westinghouse Electric as a Stacker in the transformer department before opening up his own business Hackett’s Carpet sales in Hermitage and Grove City. Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time in both his cottage in Ashtabula, Ohio and his winter home in Avon Park, Florida.

He was a member of Gideons International and the Christian Men’s Business Connection. Walter was a member of both the Hubbard Church of the Nazarene in Hubbard, Ohio and the Community Bible Church in Avon Park Fla. He is survived by a daughter Susan (Marlin) Craig of Kennerdell, PA, three sons Walter C. (Cynthia) Hackett Jr. of Sharon, Thomas (Pamela) Hackett of Mercer and Bruce (Billie Jo) Hackett of Sharon.

Survived also by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister Evelyn Rodecker and a grandson Steven Hackett. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm til 7:00 pm at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon.

A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm from the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Byus officiating. Burial will be in Mt.

Washington Cemetery.
