Obituary of Walter (Walt) Brasch Walter J. Brasch, age 90, passed away in Bellingham on November 2, 2018. Walt was born on June 30, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri to Otto and Christine Brasch. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947.

In 1976 he married Joanne McGillivray, happily blending their families. Together they had a lot of fun. When they were all living in Seattle, Walt would take the girls, and all the neighborhood kids, load them in the pickup truck, and take everybody to the beach.

The girls loved going to the deli at Albertsons with Walt because he always bought them all the fancy foods and desserts they could eat. And any time they were out having fun, camping, hiking, bird watching, or on road trips, Walt always made sure there were snacks for everyone. Along with all the fun, Walt had a long and fulfilling career as a steel worker.

Walt is preceded in death by his sister Ursula Sampson and 3 beloved corgis: Reggie, Mitzi, and Tessa. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne Brasch, daughters Tami (Darren) Pree, Teri Pizzuto Buchanan, and Janie Hendrix; brothers Bill, Burt, Glenn, and James Sampson; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Walt’s final resting place is Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale.
