Obituary for Wanda LaVerne Helms Wanda LaVerne Helms, age 63, of South Connellsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born on July 24, 1954 in Mount Pleasant, PA to Perry Bell (deceased) and Hattie L. Taylor of Mount Pleasant. She graduated from Brownsville Area High School and attended Johnstown Secretarial School.

She married Kevin Helms of South Connellsville on May 20, 2006. Wanda never knew a stranger and spent much of her time giving to others as an active member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Connellsville where she served as reader and assistant minister. She is survived by her husband, Kevin; her mother, Hattie L. Taylor of Staunton, VA; a brother, Kenneth M. Jack of New York City; a brother (deceased), Michael A. Ridgely; a sister, Michelle A. Ridgely of New York City; and the family’s below King Charles Spaniel, HRH Rex Taylor of Staunton, VA.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Wanda touched are invited to the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm on Saturday, May 26, 2018, and the funeral service will take place on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 1pm to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and celebrate the kindness, generosity, love and light that Wanda brought into this world. Rev. Kerri Clark will officiate.
