Obituary for Warren G. Pennington It is with great sadness that the family of Warren G. Pennington announces his passing on Friday September 14, 2018 at the age of 97 years. Warren will be lovingly remembered by his seven children: Warren F. Pennington, John Pennington, Deborah Brooke, Forrest Pennington, Gayle Buresh, Gloria King, and Susan Watson. Warren is also survived by four siblings: three brothers: Jess Pennington, John Pennington, Jim Pennington, and a sister: Shirley Pennington.

Warren affectionately known to family and friends as “Penny” will be fondly remembered by his extensive family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom he enjoyed a long standing relationship of being the family “story teller” who entertained with embellished and enhanced Virginia and West Virginia tall tales into a believable family historical lore. Among his proudest achievements was his service in the United States Navy during World War Two. After his service in the war, Warren returned to Bluefield, WV to begin a new career with the Betsy Ross Bakeries.

His marriage and long loving relationship with Willie (“Billie”) Mae Pennington were the years that became the high point of Warren’s long life. Their relationship and the values they gave to their children defined the best of the American dream: strong religious beliefs, moral values and unconditional love. After several years of physical separation Warren and Billie are reunited in Christ and will spend eternity together.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 29, 2018 at Mercer Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Robbie Gaines officiating.
