Obituary for Ruth Ann Proffitt Bluefield, WV- Ruth Ann Proffitt, 63, of Bluefield, WV, died Sunday October 7, 2018 at Princeton Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born December 29, 1954 in Pearisburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Miller Hamm and Dora Ellen Hearld. Mrs. Proffitt was a homemaker and a devoted member of Ceres Baptist Church.
She loved the Lord and spending time with her family. She enjoyed writing beautiful poetry and volunteering her time at the Salvation Army. Survivors include her husband Terry Wayne Proffitt, of the home; five children, Tina Hayden and husband Hank of Bluefield, WV, Cyndi Justice and partner Anne of Princeton, WV, Terry Proffitt and wife Michelle of Bluefield, WV, Charles “Chuck” Johnson and fiancé Stacey of Tazewell, VA, and Christopher Johnson and wife Jennifer Princeton; seven siblings, Joyce Killian and husband Jerry, Roger Hamm and wife Vickie, Skip Hamm and wife Julia, Rita Hendrick and husband Zendal, Mike Hamm and partner Rita, Doug Hamm and wife Donna, and James Hamm and wife Bobbi; sister-in-law, Connie Young and Husband Roger of Tazewell; grandchildren, Jessica, Demetrias “Diddly”, Brandon and wife Selina, Vaughn, Devan, Brayden, Richie, Mara, Sam, Kayla and husband Joey, Austin, Nicholas, Easton, Lillian “Lilly Bug”, and Joceylnn; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Colt, Josie, Kaylee, Kennedy, and Jolynn; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 9, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ceres Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Mooney officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where Jess, D, Vaughn, Devan, Brayden, Joey, Kayla, Austin, and Nicholas will serve as pallbearers.
