Warren H Emeigh , March 25, 1931 — October 05, 2018

Warren H. Emeigh, 87, Duncansville, died Friday evening at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Brooks Mills, son of the late Harold C. “Ted” and Esta Martha “Peg” (Strait) Emeigh. He married Mary C. Brumbaugh on March 3, 1956.

Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared over 62 years of marriage; a daughter, Jennifer A. Barefoot and husband, Richard “Rick” of Hollidaysburg; three sons: Todd B. and wife, Michele, of Duncansville, Warren S. and wife, Mary K., of Hollidaysburg and William C. “Bill” and wife, Kelly, of Duncansville; 10 grandchildren: Dr. Sarah Barefoot, R. Andrew Barefoot, Samantha Glace (Emeigh) and husband, Jeffrey, Kelsey Emeigh, Taylor Wantz, Kamrynn Wantz, Erin Lamb, Andrea Emeigh, Whitney Emeigh and William “Billy” Emeigh; a great-grandson, Jonathan Wesley; a brother, Pat of Hollidaysburg; Rick Piper of Port Gamble, Wash. , who was raised in the family home; and friends: Dr. Marvin Meisner, Dr. Fred and Dottie Davison and Marie Schuler. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold R. “Bill;” and an infant grandson, William Kirk Emeigh.

He was a 1949 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. Warren served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1953 in the 1st Division, “The Big Red One,” 26th Infantry. He and attained the rank of sergeant and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

During his time in the Army, he noticed a problem with the posts used in aiming mortars and devised a replaceable spike which could screw into the base of the aiming post. Once adopted by the Army, his “aiming stick” saved U.S. taxpayers thousands of dollars. He retired from Brumbaugh Body Co., where he served as treasurer, president and chairman of the board.

He previously worked at Bell Telephone, Pottsville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg and the NRA. Warren enjoyed spending time with his pet dog and faithful companion, Georgia, gardening and hunting.

He was also the baseball commissioner of the Hollidaysburg Area Baseball Summer League. Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, and from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, at the funeral home, Pastor Kathy Colebank officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.
