Obituary for Wayne Francis Parent Passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at Covenant HealthCare-Harrison Campus. Age 78 years. The son of the late Richard J. and Ruth M. (Jordan) Parent, Wayne was born October 9, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan.
He married Marcia L. Dill, on August 10, 1963, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1958. Wayne was initiated into the I.B.E.W Local 557, on March 1960 and retired November 2001.
As a journeyman, he loved what he did for work and thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of all the people that he met through work. Wayne truly lived life to the fullest, enjoying all the simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, taking summer vacations in Beulah and Frankfort MI, playing cards, attending Bridgeport football and basketball games, and going out to dinner with his many friends from the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption.
He lived a truly blessed life, full of love, laugher and great friendships. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marcia L. Parent; two sons, Drake J. Parent (Diane Burrill) and Damian J. Parent (Sarah Thompson); four grandchildren, Kathrynne (Erik), Karlee (Kyle), Dalton (Jenni), and Taylor; one great-grandson, Easton; siblings, Kathleen “Ginger” Praay, Nancy (Dick) LaBonte, Richard (Christine) Parent; many nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his son, Diron Dickinson Parent, mother- in- law, Dorothy L. Dill and nephew, Joel Parent.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, aids and staff at Covenant HealthCare Harrison ICU for their tremendous loving care and support of the family. Wayne will be deeply missed but his memories will forever be carried in our hearts. Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt St., Saginaw, Michigan.
Rev. Fr. John Johnson will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the Cathedral on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
