Obituary for Wilbur H. McMullen Wilbur H. McMullen, age 95, of the Town of Western, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2018 at Rome Memorial Hospital. Wilbur was born in the Town of Western on January 8, 1923 to the late Brayton and Vicca Larsen McMullen and graduated from West Leyden School in 1941. On October 13, 1979, he was united in marriage to the former Lorraine Harrington at St. Patrick’s Church in Highmarket, NY; a blessed union of 29 years until her passing on December 17, 2008.

Wilbur was a farmer, working the land he was born and raised on. He loved tractor pulls and participated in many of them throughout the years. He loved camping, snowmobiling, and the outdoors.

Wilbur is survived by his stepchildren, Cindy (Robert “Skip”) Howard of Ava, Janet Warcup of Holland Patent, and Garry (Teresa) Smith of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Bob Howard, Jr., Dodie (Ryan) McKillups, Jodie (AJ) Distad, David (Trina) Warcup), Jennifer Warcup, Noah (Theresa) Warcup, Christopher, Danny, Scott, Shane, and Shawn (Nicole) Smith; 19 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild; a brother, Harold McMullen of Ava; and many nieces and nephews, including Robert and Linda McMullen, Kathy and Bob Boek, Richard Corr, Ronnie and Marie Corr; and his special friend and neighbor, Gary Tuthill. He was predeceased by a stepson and daughter in law, Neil and Jean Smith; a son in law, David Warcup; a grandson, Steven Smith; a sister, Esther Corr; and a brother Arthur McMullen. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 4 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.

Burial will be in Westernville Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 PM prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westernville Fire Department.
