Mr. Will M. “Bud” Melson passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 89, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. He was the son of the late Samuel M. and Louella H. Melson, born September 27, 1929. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with a memorial service to follow at 12 Noon with Rev.

Allen Cross officiating. Bud was a 1948 graduate of SCHS, a member of the National Honor Society, a four-year QB and FS on the Eagles Football team. He attended The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), graduating in 1952 with a degree in Business Administration, with honors.

Mr. Melson retired May, 2014 after working 71 years in the construction industry, general contractor/construction consultant, building more than two hundred buildings in the mid-south and south areas. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of Shelbyville Since 1944 and a Ruling Elder since 1993. Bud is survived by his wife, Geneva Melson, children: Melissa (Jimmy) Simmons, Dana Smith, Cindy (Carlo) Guglielmi, Michḕ (George) Ortega, Dr. Melita Bradley, Dax (Heather) Melson, and Kris (Christy) Williams; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Per his request, his body was donated to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Property Committee, Shelbyville, TN; Adams Place, 1927 Memorial Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37129; Alive Hospice. 1629 Williams Dr., Murfreesboro, TN, 37129 or a charity of your choice.
