OBITUARY William A. Bowden Sr. June 29, 1926 – July 13, 2018 Play Tribute Movie William Bowden died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 13, 2018. Born on June 29, 1926 in Dukedom, Tennessee, William (Bill) was the son of the late Bonnie Lee and Hattie Mae Bowden. He was married to the late Alice Marie Bowden (nee Dieffenbach) for 59 years.

In addition to his wife, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Ornan Lee Bowden, sister, Sarah Lee Bowden and sister, Ruth Mae Alderdice. He is survived by his sister, Lorene Workman of Palmersville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his children, William Bowden, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Jupiter, Florida, Joyce Blyskal and John Rybak Toms River, NJ, Charles Bowden, Sr. and his wife, Diane of Parlin, NJ, and David Bowden, Sr. and his wife, Sheila of Beachwood, NJ.

In addition, he is survived by nine grandchildren: Charles Bowden, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Parlin, NJ, Jennifer Neumann and her husband Craig of Bloomfield, CT, Megan Dwyer and her husband, Timothy of Middletown, NJ, Daniel Bowden of Jupiter, FL, Allyson Burggraf and her husband Richard of New Providence, NJ, Alex Bowden of Jupiter, FL (currently serving in the US Navy), David Bowden and fiancé Lori Stewart of Beachwood, NJ, Kayla Belade and her husband Brett of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Kevin Bowden and his fiancé Breanna Morey of Bayville, NJ. Bill is also survived by eight great- grandchildren: Dominic, Richard IV (RJ), Luke, Avery, Beckett, Michael, Palmer Joy and Matthew. Bill grew up the son of a farmer in Tennessee.

Bill worked on the farm with his family – this is where he learned his strong work ethic. He shared many stories of his childhood with his family. Bill left Dukedom at the age of 20 and moved to New Jersey to work for White Castle System, Inc. In his 45 years at White Castle System, Inc., Bill advanced himself from working at the restaurant to becoming the Assistant Area Manager of New Jersey until he retired in 1991.

Upon retiring, Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife, Alice; playing cards with his close friends and enjoying time with his family and friends. Bill was a long time resident of Roselle, NJ before moving to Toms River, NJ in 2001. Friends and family members are invited to call from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Thursday, July 19th at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ, 732-240-3800.

A funeral service will take place at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home on Friday, July 20th at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
