Cartwright, age 90, of Shelbyville, passed away on January 11, 2019 at Glen Oaks Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at Doak Howell Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Willow Mounty Cemetery.

Mark Hall will conduct the service. There will be special music by Felecia and Billy Moon and Steve Frizzell. Mr. Cartwright was known by Bill, Brother Bill, Uncle William, Poppa, Daddy and Pa.

He was such a people person and was loved dearly by his family and many friends. Mr. Cartwright was born to the late Phillip and Dorothy Baker Cartwright on June 4, 1928. He married the love of his life, Betty Jo Harris Cartwright on May 31, 1947.

She preceded him in death on February 26, 2015, after a long five years battle with Alzheimer’s. He faithfully took care of her at home until the last twenty days at which time she was in Glen Oaks Nursing Home. Mr. Cartwright is survived by his two sons, Ted (Donna) Cartwright and Mike (Mary E.) Cartwright both of Shelbyville, Grandchildren, Marc (Julie) Cartwright and Chris (Lacy) Cartwright, Great Grandchildren, Blaire Cartwright, Kateland (Michael) Georgeson and Lucas Cartwright.

He also is survived by several Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Cartwright started working in the construction field with Thomas Cartwright then later with Ewing Cartwright. He also worked for Savage & Carr, L. L. Poe and retired at the age of 80 with Jim Warren Construction.

In addition to working construction, he was a pastor at Trinity Southern Methodist Church for many years. Even after his retirement from the church, he conducted many weddings and presided at several funeral services. He attended church services at Ransom Methodist Church for many years.

He and one of his Nieces, the late Renee McAmis attended services there almost every Sunday followed by lunch usually at Legend’s. Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association @ www. alz.org or to P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
