Lilesville – Mr. William B. “Billy” Lee, 69, was finally and completely transformed from of all his earthly imperfections into a perfect being on Friday, May 24, 2019, while a patient at Atrium Health University City in Charlotte. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Tuesday at Lilesville Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Lawson and Rev.

Randy Swaringen officiating. Interment will follow in the Lilesville Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00PM on Monday evening at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the Lee home on Camden Street.

Billy was born in Anson County on May 1, 1950, the younger of two boys born to Robert Hudson Lee and Elizabeth Dawkins Lee. He graduated Bowman High School and worked for a short while at Commercial Products, Inc. Billy then got on with the Town of Wadesboro’s Water Department where he was lucky enough to work for Jake Hanna. Billy learned a great deal from Mr. Hanna over the years and following his retirement, Billy was promoted to the Water Superintendent, a position he would hold until he was forced to retire on a disability.

Through the years, Billy also enjoyed pouring and finishing concrete as a diversion from his water department duties. Billy was a lifetime member of Lilesville Baptist Church where he attended the J.C. Hicks Sunday School class and served on many church committees including the Deacon Board, House & Grounds, Visual Aids, Offering Steward, and the Lord’s Supper. Billy also enjoyed serving his community as a capable volunteer fireman for over twenty years.

Billy always had a tender spot for animals and even though he currently had no dogs of his own, he dearly loved Stephen and Kevin’s dogs, Max and Willow. He also enjoyed bird watching, especially the Purple Martins. Billy was a loving husband, father, and “PaPa” to his family which includes his wife of 48 years, Linda Diggs Lee of the home; two sons, Stephen (Leslie) Lee and Kevin (Kelly) Lee both of Lilesville; and six grandchildren, Parker, Mason, Kristen, Scarlett, Kolby, and Kaine.

Also surviving is Billy’s brother and his family, Robert Harrison “Bobby” Lee of Lugoff, SC; his oldest son, Shane (Bonnie) Lee and their children, Savannah Lee and Marissa (Scott) Christian and their child, Eastyn; and Bobby’s youngest son, Brian (Jill) Lee and their child, Abby; and Billy’s extended Diggs family. Memorials may be made to Lilesville Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 305, Lilesville, NC 28091 or to the Anson Rescue Squad, 208 E. Morgan Street, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
