Obituary for William “Bill” Peipert Jr. William L. “Bill” Peipert Jr., 76, passed away peacefully at 6:57 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at his home in Alton. He was born on March 19, 1942 in Alton, IL, the son of William L. Peipert Sr. and Catherine Dolores McConnell. He married the former Roberta Jane Whyers on September 15, 1962 in Alton.

She preceded him in death on February 23, 2005. He is survived by six children, Eric (June) Peipert of Potomac Falls, VA; Cathy (Andrew) McFarlane of Atlanta, GA; William G. “Billy” Peipert of Alton; Annie (Wes) Scheufler of Sarasota, FL; Robert (Ruth Ellen) Peipert of Indian Harbour Beach, FL and Jeannie Holderman of Sarasota, FL, eight siblings; Mary Jo (Larry) Lindsay; Cindy (Jim) Sumner; Guy (Judy) Peipert; Chris (Jeanne) Peipert; Tim (Gina) Peipert; Beth Peipert and Andy (Sue) Peipert. As well as fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Peipert Sr. and a sister, Sandra “Sandy” Holland. Bill thrived as an Illinois Realtor; he bought, sold and brokered properties in the Alton metro area for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, and was a loyal member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) with more than 42 years of sobriety.

A 1960 graduate and football athlete of Marquette Catholic High School. He was an avid swing dancer and a member of the West County Swing Dance Club. He will be remembered for his ability to share a story, tell a joke, laugh and reminisce about his children and grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. A private family burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Second Wind Lung Transplant Association of St. Louis.
