Obituary for Ronald William Burris Dateline: Jacksonville, FL Ronald William Burris, age 67, formerly of Hardin, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Mayo Clinic, surrounded by his family. He was born March 13th 1951 in Carrollton, IL, the son of Charles and Theresa Gress-Burris. He married Sheila Johnson Burris on June 17, 1974 and she survives him.

After graduating high school in 1969 Ron enlisted in the Navy where he served honorably until 1977. While serving he met and married Sheila Johnson, his wife of 43 years. After his discharge his family settled back in Hardin, IL and he was employed by IL Power/Dynegy Power Co until his retirement due his battle with MS in 2006.

After his retirement he and his wife moved to Jacksonville, FL. In addition to his wife he is survived by his two daughters Nicole (Phil) Fisher of Jacksonville, FL. Sheryll Dee (Randy) Suhr of LA.

And a son Jonathan (Samantha) Burris of Elsah, IL. Two sisters, Barbara Lucykow and Doris (John) Zumwalt of Litchfield, IL. Two Brothers Larry (Barb) Burris of Hardin, IL and Charlie (Maureen) Burris of Highland, IL.

Grandchildren, Jada Garcia, Patrick and Noah Fisher, Rose, Heaven, and Holly Corbett, Madason, McKenzi, Zelda and Zane Burris. Two beloved cousins Dennis and Bobby Gress of Hardin, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by His parents, two brothers, Jimmy Jo and Wayne Burris, and one sister, Mary Lou Blackwell-Franke.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 18, 2018, from Noon until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin with Rev. Paul Frazier officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
