William Carter, 62, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019, at his home. He was born on May 28, 1956 in Martinsville, to the late John Willie and Mary Katherine Morris Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Carter.

Mr. Carter was educated in the Martinsville City Schools and enjoyed racing, watching westerns, and fishing. His working career included American Furniture Company, the Martinsville Bulletin, and he had been a truck driver. He is survived by his sisters, Linda Faulkner, Deborah Carter and LaVerne Carter; special cousin, Anthony Curry; special caregiver, Faye; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel at 12:30 PM with Bishop Joe Gravely officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
