OBITUARY William Earl Long Sr. January 15, 1959 – January 4, 2019 William Earl Long, Sr., 59, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at his home. A lifetime resident of Craven County, William was an ace mechanic who could fix most any engine. In his spare time, he enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and playing baseball with Jordan.

Sadly, he was preceded in death by his son, William E. Long, Jr., his wife Brenda Jones Long, and his father Walter W. Long, Jr. A celebration of William’s life will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 19th, 2019 at Cotten Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rex Bennett officiating. William is survived by his mother, Laura Grimes Long, of New Bern; his daughters, Jessica Marie Washington (Tito), of Vanceboro; and Beth Cumbie, of Vanceboro.

He also leaves behind his brothers, Paul Long (Janice), of Bridgeton; Greg Long, of Vanceboro; Buddy Long, of New Bern; his sisters, Susie Jones, of New Bern and Diane Lewis, of Reelsboro; his grandchildren, William “Jordan” Leary, Kaylie Long, Gabby Washington, Elijah Washington, Sara Martin, his special aunt Marie Corbett; and many many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
