William H. Stocklin, Sr., aged 88, of Austin, Texas passed away Friday, May 24, 2019. Mr. Stocklin was born to his mother Cedonia (Moeckli) Stocklin December 26, 1930 at Swiss, Missouri, where he was raised by Cedonia and her brother Fred Moeckli. He was the loving husband of Evelyn (Hahne) Stocklin for 62 years.

They were united in marriage August 4, 1956, at St. James Church, Stony Hill. He served in the US Army’s 820th Engineer Aviation Battalion for 3 years, during which time he greatly enjoyed his service in Alaska, Nevada, and California. He graduated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Mathematics.

He also completed coursework towards a doctorate at Columbia University. He was an engineer at IBM for 33 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, gardening, and family.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in both Poughkeepsie, New York and Austin, Texas. He was active in World Bible School through which he mentored hundreds and was a participant and leader in Bible Study Fellowship for over 25 years. Mr. Stocklin was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lorraine Rohlfing, brother Norville Stocklin, half-brother Granville Stocklin, and brother-in-law Norris Rohlfing.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Stocklin of Austin, Texas; four daughters Mary Hollingsworth and husband John, Barbara Steely and husband Jim, Lisa Greenstein and husband Lee, Catherine Peterson and husband Daniel; son William Stocklin, Jr. and wife Sharie; nine grandchildren Jennifer (Hollingsworth) Schackmann, Dana Hollingsworth, Shelley Hollingsworth, Rachel Greenstein, Cedonia Peterson, Justin Peterson, Olivia Peterson, David Peterson, and Ella Stocklin; great-grandchildren Silas and Savannah Schackmann,; sister-in-law Jeanne Stocklin; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31st from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 1st at 12:00 pm at St. James Evangelical Church, Stony Hill, with the Rev.

Tom Lloyd officiating. Lunch will be served following the services. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery, Stony Hill.
