William Houston Vernon, 88, resident of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Hardin County General Hospital. William was born March 4, 1930 in Nashville, TN to the late Edward Millard and Maybe (Carter) Vernon. He married the former Norma Ruth Black who preceded him in death in 2003.

He was retired from the US Navy and the Hardin County General Hospital. He was Catholic by faith and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. William is survived by a sister, Patricia Ann Fink, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three siblings: Edward, Frank and Frances Carol. Funeral services will be private as per his wishes and he will be buried next to his wife in Park Lawn Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
