William John Hunsinger went to be with the Lord October 31, 2018. He was born September 20, 1928 in Wilkes Barre, PA to John and Helen Hunsinger. He entered the military at the age of sixteen toward the end of World War II.

He left the military in 1954, moved to Endicott and took a job with the Endicott Johnson Company. He retired from EJ in 1990 at the age of 62. Bill was an active member of Union Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and a proud member of the following Masonic organizations: Round Hill Masonic Lodge, Masonic War Veterans Post 61 Round Hill Eastern Star, Queen May Court Order of the Amaranth, Valley of Binghamton AASR, the York Rite Bodies, Kalurah Shrine and it’s Hillbilly Clan, Aahmes Grotto, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Gentlemen of the Creeks.

He also loved collecting model trains and had an extensive layout on the second floor of his Endicott home. Bill always had a special place in his heart for children and hated to think that any of them would go hungry or come to any harm. In 2014, at the age of 86 he began taking criminal justice classes at SUNY Broome in hopes of gaining a position in law enforcement to help protect children.

He is survived by his nephew Robert (Kim) Van Fossen, Apalachin, NY as well as several great nephews. Bill wanted to acknowledge his appreciation for his many friends especially Jan & Kevin Kelley, Sharon Joy and Brooke Shadduck, Leo & Lyn Skiba, David and Diana Spicer and Jerry and Cindy Natoli. Many thanks are extended to the caring and compassionate staff at St. Louise Manor and Elizabeth Church Manor for the outstanding care Bill received during the many years he lived there.

Funeral services will be 11 am Monday at Union Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Main St. Endicott. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Endicott. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton.

Amaranth services 3:15pm. Eastern Star services 3:30 pm and Masonic services 4:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy can be made to CHOW/Broome County Council of Churches, 3 Otsiningo Street, Binghamton, NY 13903 or Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o 625 Dickson St. Endicott, NY 13760.
