Obituary for William Joseph “Joe” Delk Rush Springs: William Joseph Delk, departed this life on Thursday, May 10, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He was 83 years old. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Catholic Church in Marlow.
A rosary is scheduled on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Joe was born Sunday, March 15, 1935 in Manitou, to Henry Greene and Lucy (Schrick) Delk.
He attended school at the Manitou, Kechi, and Ninnekah schools. He married Barbara Ann Lee in 1956. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Joe is also preceded in death by his companion of many years, Gaye Hodges. He was a member of the Air Policeman in the United States Air Force. Joe worked as an auto mechanic at Delk Muffler for over 35 years.
He enjoyed putting mufflers on cars and trucks. He had a passion for restoring antique cars with his brothers and loved to ride motorcycles. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a generous person that had never met a stranger. One thing that Joe would always say was he wouldn’t have made it this far if it hadn’t have been for Rhonda, his niece. Survivors include, 3 brothers, James Earl Delk and wife Marylyn of Marlow, Sammy Delk and wife Amelia of Ninnekah, Carl Delk and wife Kimberly of Oklahoma City, 3 sisters, Alma Cauthron and husband Grady of Duncan, Kathy Hale of Oklahoma City, Mary Danford and husband Steve of Chickasha.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, a special nephew and niece, Jerrod Gammon, Lindsey Gammon, and a special friend Robert Taylor. He was also a Godfather to Joseph Edward Turner and John Michael Turner. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his companion, Gaye Hodges, 2 brothers, Mickey Delk, Thomas Burton Delk, and a sister, Mary Alice.
