Obituary for Bernice “Bun” Young Marlow: Bernice “Bun” Young , 98, passed from this life on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in Marlow at the age of 98. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the First Christian Church, with Rev. Ron Orf officiating.

Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, Oklahoma. Bun was born Thursday, January 22, 1920 in Woodbine, Texas to Clarence Cleveland and Susie (McCorkle) Hale. She lived in the Marlow area all of her life and graduated from Marlow High School.

She worked for the First National Bank for 69 years and was the Vice President. Bun married her loving husband of 71 years, Thomas Harley Young in Duncan on June 30, 1936. He departed this life on October 15, 2007.

She was strongly involved with many activities in the community such as Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, American Legion, VFW Bertha Stone Circle, and girl scouts. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. She always tried to be a leader and a role model for others.

She was a very giving of her time and blessing others as she helped many families over the years. She truly appreciated all of her friends. She will be missed by all of those that knew her and loved her.

Survivors include, nephew, Gary Williams and wife Patty, niece-in-law, Dorothy Williams, a sister-in-law, Charlotte Young, a foster son, Jimmy Newman, God grandchildren, Page and Amber. She is also survived by the friends that had been so dear to her, Joyce Muncy, Ann Brown, LaVelle Anderson, and JoAnn Iverson. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Edith Valentine, Zenith Williams, a God-child, Michelle Cooper, and a foster daughter, Harla Rackley.

Pallbearers will be: Rick Muncy, Jim Brown, Jack Anderson, David Smith, Scottie Dittner,and Darrol Young. Memorial Contributions can be made to the First Christian Church Christmas Fund for children. Online condolences may be made to www.
