William Rabinowitz, age 92 , of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on, Thursday, January 24, 2019. Born March 20, 1926, in Wilkes Barre, he was the son of the late Jacob and Ida Rabinowitz. He graduated from Meyers High School and attended Temple University and Wilkes University.

He resided in Wilkes Barre his entire life. William was a member of Temple Israel, where he was very active, served on the Board, and was a Lifetime member. He was honored with a Citation of Appreciation for his distinguished and exemplary service there.

He was also a member, and treasurer, of the Men’s Club at the Jewish Community Center. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and served during World War 2 in the Pacific. He worked as a businessman, and was owner of Barre Motors, Fashion Beauty, and Alert Beauty Supply.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Rabinowitz, and sister Shirley Fortinsky. Surviving are his wife Diane Kornblau Rabinowitz; sons Jay and his wife Mindy of Denver, CO, and Jeff of Wilkes Barre; grandchildren Lindsey Rabinowitz of Oakland, CA and Eric Rabinowitz of San Francisco, CA; and sister Sylvia Schwartz of Mexico. Funeral service will be held at Temple Israel Synagogue, 239 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2 pm.

Shiva will be observed at Temple Israel on Saturday evening 6-8 PM and Sunday 2-5 PM. Arrangements by Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. Wilkes-Barre Memorial Contributions may be made to Temple Israel or to the charity of donor’s choice.
