William Ray “Bill” Schmaus, 58, of North Vernon, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at his residence. Born June 23, 1960, in Champagne, Illinois, he was the son of William E. and Alma Vest Schmaus. Mr. Schmaus worked as a DST for Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 11 years.

He was a member of the Code Blue Band where he played bass guitar. Mr. Schmaus enjoyed playing guitar, NASCAR, hunting and fishing. Survivors include a son, Nik Schmaus, of Westport; brother, Kenny Schmaus, of Madison, South Dakota and grandchild, Mallory Elizabeth Schmaus, of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Schmaus. A celebration of life will be on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Memorials may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
