Obituary for William Voss William J. Voss Jr. William “Billy Joe” J. Voss Jr. age 92, of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully on June 9, 2018. He was born July 7, 1925 in Hammond, IN to Helen and William Voss Sr He is survived by his loving wife, Alma Voss; Nephews, Brian Fieldon, Ken Much, David Much, Tim Voss, Tom Voss and Todd Voss; Nieces, Marla Smith and Marlene Wing; Sisters in law, Elsie Much and Lois Wilson.

Preceded in death by his brother, John Voss; sister Marion Fieldon and parents Helen and William Voss Sr. Billy Joe retired in 1986 after 20 years at US Steel in Gary, IN. He was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Hammond. He also was a lifelong member of the American Legion post 16 in Munster.

He served in the United States Navy during WWII; a very proud moment for Billy Joe was being invited to take the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2016. A Funeral Service will be held on, Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 12:30pm at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN. ) with Pastor Saatkamp officiating.

Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Chapel from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, 7441 Grand Ave, Hammond, IN 46323.
