He graduated from Dunnellon High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Berry College.

He married Patricia Mills in 1962 and they made their home in Bainbridge where they were members of First Baptist Church. Bill taught drafting at Bainbridge High School for several years and owned Edison Insurance Agency. Bill never met a stranger.

His career in insurance gave him many opportunities to grow his friend circle. His customers became like family. Bill enjoyed fishing, the beach and hanging out with “grumpy old men”.

Coffee was a staple especially when Bill was studying. He loved to read his Bible and cookbooks so there was never a shortage of conversation topics ranging from God to grilling. Family, whether blood related or not, was important to Bill.

He was always happy and, in his laid-back manner, brought peacefulness in a world of chaos. The best description is he was “just Bill”. Survivors include his daughters, Vanessa Edison Head and her husband, Tom, of South Lake, TX, Celeste Edison Bromberger and her husband, Greg, of Chapel Hill, NC and Heather Edison Hall and her husband, Eric, of Colquitt, GA; his siblings, Johnny Edison of Chiefland, FL, Gail Edison Faircloth of Chiefland, FL, Linda Edison Hasson and her husband, Dick, of Gainesville, FL, Judy Edison Markley of Markle, IN, Edward Edison and his wife, Janice, of Ocala, FL and Jeff Edison and his wife, Terri, also of Chiefland, FL; his grandchildren, William Head, Griffin Head, Jack Mercer Hall, Brett Bromberger, Brock Bromberger and Mary Vines Hall; and his special friends, Mittie Stubbs and Pam Jaye.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Mills Edison. The Edison Family would like to extend special thanks to Judy Phillips and the caregivers at Willow Ridge, the staff at Bainbridge HealthCare and Dr. Sydney Cochran for their kindness and compassion.
